Lymphocyte separation solution is a sterile-filtered iso-osmotic solution designed for the in vitro isolation of lymphocytes from diluted whole blood. It is a sterile, iso-osmotic polysucrose and diatrizoate solution with low viscosity and a density of 1.077g/ mL.

This product is based on the method of separating lymphocytes using density gradient centrifugation (differential centrifugation), resulting in the formation of several different cell layers. Monocytes (lymphocytes and monocytes) and platelets will be contained in the banded plasma-LSM interval due to density. Red blood cells and granulocytes will migrate through the gradient to the bottom of the test tube. The lymphocytes can be recovered by aspirating the plasma layer and removing the cells.
